My new LG washer & dryer are here and sitting in the garage awaiting installation! Of course they’re sitting on Paul’s side of the garage.

My bathroom is a disaster and I’m thrilled! Okay, the real story is our contractor is finally working on redoing our bathrooms from the studs up. The first to be redone is the “cat’s bathroom” (named so because that’s where the litter box is) and it will be transformed into a 3/4-bath combo laundry room. Or so I hope. It’s a small space and I want to cram a lot of stuff in it. I’ll try to get pix after curling tonight.

Which is the karmic lesson of this lifetime, I think. Sometimes you need to force events along, sometimes you need to help, and sometimes you just have to let the events happen as they will. It’s a tough philosophy for a Type A like me to accept, but …

I’m over on Facebook now and wow! It’s addictive! Love the quizzes, they’re loads of fun. Of course, now that I’ve changed hosting providers and am happy with them (so far), I’ve discovered Facebook. *sigh*

Finally won my 2nd game of the Wednesday night league curling. Like I said on Facebook, we gelled and it all came together. My regular 3rd/vice was not there, so we had a sub, and thus we have to harass our regular player cuz we did win. heh heh.

When it comes to curling, that is.  Had an absolute blast at the Norfolk (CT) curling club in NW Connecticut this past weekend.  They hosted their Valentine’s Day Mixed Bonspiel.  Paul & I went with two of our friends, Brenda & Stu.  I thought the best lineup would be Paul (4), me (skip, throwing 3rd rocks), Stu (2) and Brenda (L).  Except for the first game, where we all were a little off, we did great!  After losing a close first game, we won the remaining three to win the B event!  It’s been a long time since I won a B event; it was the GNCC Women’s 5 & Under in 2003 at the Nashua Curling Club.

We also inspired another team to try the “woman skipping from 3rd and man throwing last rocks” scenario: the husband was so thrilled!  They were 0-2 the “old way” and 2-0 the “new way.”  Anytime I can help, I’m happy of it!

It’s a short week for me; we have today off for President’s Day, and I have Friday off for the UCC Cobb Mixed.  Before Thursday night I do need to bake a cake.  Luckily I sent away to Icing Images to have the decorations done for me.  I’m a great baker, but a so-so decorator.

I came across an interesting site that reviews sci-fi/fantasy books and rates them.  While I disagree with some of the ratings - and that’s OK - I decided to pick up a book from that list which had a high rating.  It was The Curse of Chalion, and I was surprised at how much I liked it!

Yes, I know there’s something amiss with the Gallery2 backgrounds and I’m working on wading through all the markup to find out just what styles and IDs are committing the crimes.  And I don’t recall where I put all the great documentation I had from the last time I customized the style sheets and templates.

This is the site now on hostgator.com.  So far it’s set up reasonably OK.  They have fantastico scripts for the latest WP and Gallery2, and the resize on G2 is working!!

And I got my little Logitech 4000 Pro webcam working over Skype.  Very cool.  Maybe next I’ll get a webcam or quick captures working so I can watch the cats sleep. 

And not a good way to start the year.  I’m not sure of precisely why, but I have no reserves left.  I am holding onto my temper by a thin thread, a thread that’s slippery as can be.  I have no concentration and just don’t give a flick.  My curling is just not good … except when I’m playing lead with a good skip.  Vicing I guess I’m OK.  I was never a positive person to begin with and I’m being put in situations with less hope than the Titanic.  *sigh*  Hopefully this will all pass.

We’re heading into the depths of curling season now.  I’m curling 3x/week (as vice, skip & lead) and this weekend I’m heading out to the Rochester Curling Club for the Empire State Bonspiel (ladies’ only).  Next weekend I’m in the club Mixed Championship (as lead, thankfully).  At the end of the month, I’m back in Rochester for the Utica-Rochester Friendly.  The weekend after that I may do a spiel on real lake ice, and Valentine’s Day weekend there’s a mixed spiel in Norfolk, CT.  *whew*

I’m ready for a vacation, thank you!  Actually, my brain is getting tired and I’m not curling as well as I would like.  I can tell because I’m letting all these little distractions get in my way.  So on the way out to Rochester Thursday afternoon (and I’m not driving! Yay!) I think I’ll pop in the earbuds (or at least in one ear) and try to tune myself back into “me.”

Apparently I can’t modify the php memory_limit setting on my account, and consequently, thumbnails and alternate photo sizes aren’t generating.  The limit is set at 32M and I need more… time for a new host?  We’ll see.
