Anyone who knows me, knows I am “really into” music. By ”really into” music, I mean that music is part and parcel of who I am. Music is part of my everyday life; I go nowhere without my media player or a working radio. When I’m competing (in a curling match) I have my “Mindset Mix” which I use to get into the right frame of mind. If I hear a certain song, I am reminded of a person, or a time in my life - good or bad.
In elementary and junior high, I took three years of violin lessons. In high school and college I taught myself piano. In college I had three years of classical voice training. I’ve gone from an okay coloratura voice to a servicable mezzo soprano. I don’t mind (much) - this way I can really enjoy my music without worrying about the finer points of it. I can carry a tune and support those around me. Heck - even though Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” is only sung once per year, I know the choral pieces by heart. (After 15 years you would think so.) I’m great with musical details but lousy with names of people I met only 10 minutes ago.
To that end, here a few personal soundtracks I’ve put together.
